Eric Matthews joined Brown & Fortunato as a member of the firm’s Corporate Group. Eric strives to help clients expand their business and real estate holdings and to succeed in any venture, whether professional or personal. His practice involves a broad spectrum of business and real estate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, business startups, and contract drafting and negotiation.

Eric advises owners and executives at every phase of the business cycle, from formation to termination, and negotiates and drafts purchase and sale agreements, conversion documents, and various agreements with suppliers, vendors, and other third parties. In addition, Eric assists clients in structuring and negotiating commercial and residential real estate transactions, including purchase contracts, financing and loan documents, and leases.

Eric is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Amarillo Area Bar Association, and the Amarillo Young Lawyers Association. He earned both his Bachelor of Business Administration and Juris Doctor, magna cum laude from Texas Tech University. During his undergraduate studies, Eric formed and operated two companies, a recycling business and landscape design business, both of which he later sold. While in law school, Eric was a member of the Texas Tech Law Review.

Perhaps the most valuable work Eric does is halfway around the world. Eric and his wife, Kimberly, founded and operate 25:35 Water, a 501(c)(3) organization, drilling water wells and providing food and medical supplies to impoverished areas of Uganda, Africa. Since its inception in 2016, 25:35 Water has drilled more than 45 water wells across Uganda.

Eric is an avid traveler and backpacker, below average CrossFitter, and, perhaps unfortunately, lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan. Eric and Kimberly spend most of their time wrangling their three kids: Layla, RJ, and Sunny.
