Swearing in of Two New Attorneys to Practice in Texas

Jared W. Barton and Jared H. Starr have met all the requirements for admission to the State Bar of Texas and were sworn into legal practice on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, by Chief Justice Brian Quinn.



Jared W. Barton joined Brown & Fortunato as a member of the firm’s Litigation Group. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Amarillo Bar Association, and the Amarillo Area Young Lawyers Association.

Jared grew up in Dallas, Texas and graduated from Lake Highlands High School in 2013. In 2017, he earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Oklahoma with a major in Political Science and a minor in History. In 2020, Jared received his law degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in Norman, Oklahoma.

While in Law School, Jared spent one summer with the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office and another with the Honorable Russell F. Nelms, a United States Bankruptcy Judge in the Northern District of Texas. In the Summer of 2018, Jared studied abroad with the legal studies program at the University of Oxford in England.







Jared H. Starr joined Brown & Fortunato as a member of the firm’s Healthcare group. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Minnesota State Bar Association.

Jared was born and raised in Houston, TX. In 2017, he graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science in Community Health. While at KU, Jared was a Founding Father of the Sigma Pi Fraternity and played an integral role in organizing, growing and establishing the organization and its members.

In 2020, Jared received his Juris Doctor with a Certificate of Health Law from DePaul University College of Law. While at DePaul, Jared participated in the Civil Litigation Clinic and was named to the Dean’s List. In addition, Jared was one of fifteen members of his graduating class to participate in DePaul’s Third Year in Practice Program in which students dedicate their third year of law school to preparing for the practice of law by taking a combination of professional skills, clinic, and externship courses.
