Brown & Fortunato announces three new shareholders

Brown & Fortunato is pleased to announce Tom Knapp, Allison Shelton and Alfonso Zambrano have been named shareholders in the firm.

Tom Knapp is a member of Brown & Fortunato’s Corporate Group. His practice includes general business matters with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, healthcare transactions, corporate governance, business start-ups, business counseling, corporate finance, trademark filings, and contract negotiating and drafting. Tom serves as the principal legal advisor to a wide range of businesses, helping clients achieve growth and success. Tom is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Amarillo Area Bar Association. Tom is a board member of the Amarillo Young Lawyers Association, a founding board member of the Center City Club of Amarillo (a civic group organized to bring young professionals together), and an active board member of Center City of Amarillo, Inc.

Allison Shelton is a member of Brown & Fortunato’s Health Care Group. Allison is board certified in health law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She represents various health care providers, including hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, non-profit health care organizations, rural health clinics, pharmacies, durable medical equipment suppliers, home health agencies, and hospice providers. She routinely advises clients on laws applicable to the health care industry, such as state licensing standards; accreditation requirements; Medicare Conditions of Participation; Medicare and Medicaid coverage requirements; the federal Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark law, and other fraud, waste, and abuse laws; the Health Care Quality Improvement Act; the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (HIPAA); and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Allison is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Amarillo Area Bar Association, the Amarillo Young Lawyers Association, and the American Health Lawyers Association.

Alfonso Zambrano is a member of Brown & Fortunato’s Corporate group. His practice includes general business matters with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, business start-ups, real estate transactions and corporate governance. Alfonso serves as the principal legal advisor on numerous mergers, acquisitions and divestitures in various industries to help clients achieve growth and implement their business strategies. Alfonso represents lenders and borrowers in complex financial transactions in negotiating and closing credit agreement. He also serves as the lead advisor to buyers and sellers in numerous health law transactions involving the sales and acquisitions of durable medical equipment companies, pharmacies, medical groups, and other healthcare related entities. Alfonso is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Amarillo Area Bar Association and the Amarillo Young Lawyers Association. He is also an active board member of the Amarillo Museum of Art, the Amarillo College Foundation and the Amarillo Local Government Corporation.
