Matt Sherwood is a litigator with an emphasis in health law and business disputes, and he is a shareholder at the firm. Matt is licensed in Texas, Oklahoma, the Northern District of Texas, and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Matt is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law and Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. When he obtained his certification in Civil Trial Law, he became the youngest attorney in the state of Texas to hold both Board Certifications.

Matt’s practice includes representing individuals and businesses in the health care, oil and gas and construction industries. He handles numerous types of litigation matters including, commercial/contractual disputes, construction litigation, employment matters, personal injury, professional liability, products liability, real estate, tort, and insurance defense. Matt regularly represents parties in a broad array of construction disputes, including owners, general contractors, subcontractors, and public entities. In health care matters, Matt represents home medical providers and other healthcare providers in litigation involving payer contracting, False Claims Act allegations, and business disputes. In oil and gas matters, Matt regularly represents clients in production in paying quantity disputes, contract disputes, joint operating disputes, and oilfield injury claims.

Matt has tried more than two dozen cases to verdict and has handled numerous matters at the appellate level, as well. Matt’s success has led to his selection as a Rising Star by Texas Lawyer Magazine in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021. Additionally, he is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, an honor held by only 0.33% of attorneys in the State of Texas.

Matt attended Brown University and Texas Tech University for his undergraduate education, receiving his B.B.A. in Accounting in 2005 from Texas Tech. Matt earned his J.D. in 2008 from the Texas Tech University School of Law. In law school, Matt graduated in the top 10 of his class, earning the Order of the Coif designation.

Matt and his wife, Robin, have two children, Olivia and William. Matt enjoys coaching his children’s sports teams, playing golf and tennis, and reading. He is currently the President of the Amarillo Area Bar Association and has previously served as Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer. He serves on the Boards of Directors of Kids, Incorporated, the Maverick Boys and Girls Club, and the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce Governmental Affairs Committee.
