Colleen T. Byrom joined Brown & Fortunato as a member of the firm’s Health Care Group. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Amarillo Bar Association, and the Amarillo Young Lawyers Association.

Prior to joining Brown & Fortunato Colleen was General Counsel for Group NIRE, a Texas Tech University spin-out company that focuses on energy prototype research and testing. During her time as in-house counsel, Colleen’s practice included Federal and State grant award compliance, renewable energy asset installation and permitting, electrical interconnection regulatory matters for generating assets with a focus on the Southwestern Power Pool service region, and the licensing of new technologies.

Colleen was born in California and grew up on the gulf coast in Corpus Christi, Texas and in Lake Charles, Louisiana. In 2010, she graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences where she was on the Dean’s List several times.

In 2014, Colleen graduated from Texas Tech University School of Law in Lubbock, Texas with a concentration in Business Law. While in law school, Colleen was an Articles Editor for the Texas Tech University School of Law Administrative Law Journal. Her article, The Need for Speed? The Effects of the new 85 miles per hour Speed Limit on the Texas State Highway 130 Tollway, was published in the online edition of the Texas Tech Administrative Law Journal. She was also a member of the Energy Law Interest Group (ELIG).

Colleen enjoys spending time with her husband, her family and friends. She is also an avid LSU Tigers fan and enjoys running half marathons, cooking, going to concerts and traveling.
