Allison D. Shelton joined Brown & Fortunato as a member in the firm’s Health Care Group. Allison is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Amarillo Area Bar Association, the Amarillo Young Lawyers Association, and the American Health Lawyers Association.

Since joining the firm she has represented hospitals on a variety of matters, including responses to possible EMTALA violations; contractual arrangements with providers, governmental entities, and other private parties; HIPAA compliance issues; preparation of Medical Staff Bylaws; policies and procedures; rules and regulations; and matters involving credentialing and the peer review process. In addition to hospitals, she also represents durable medical equipment companies and pharmacies on issues involving compliance with regulations, overpayment demands, health care audits, the Stark Law, and the Anti-Kickback Statute. She has co-authored several articles with Mary Bearden for the Houston Medical Journal.

Allison was raised in Monahans, Texas. In 2004, she received a B.A. in History as well as a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Texas, Permian Basin. She then taught Government at Springtown High School for three years. In 2007, she enrolled at Texas Tech School of Law. While at law school, she served as a contributing writer and an editor for the Texas Bank Lawyer. She also served as an editor for The Community Property and Estate Planning Journal. In 2010, she graduated summa cum laude and was inducted into the Order of the Coif.

Allison is married to Clay Shelton. Clay is a helicopter pilot for the Texas Department of Public Safety. They enjoy spending time with their family and friends.
