Phuong Nguyen joined Brown & Fortunato in 2007 as a member of the firm’s Health Care Group.  He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Amarillo Area Bar Association. 

Born in Saigon, Vietnam, Phuong came to the United States with his family at the age of four.  He is fluent in Vietnamese and English.  He attended college at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas and graduated in 1998 with a B.A. in Philosophy and Math and a minor in music.

Phuong attended law school at the University of Houston Law Center where he earned his J.D. in 2006.   In law school, he was the recepient of the Prudential Life Insurance Scholarship from the faculty, awarded for being an outstanding health law student, and the Dean’s Scholarship.  He won first place in the Houston Bar Association’s Health Law Writing Competition, and his paper A Review of Average Wholesale Price Litigation and Comments on the Medicare Modernization Act was published in issue 9 of the Quinnipiac Health Law Journal in 2006.

During law school, Phuong clerked for the Honorable Judge Brent Gamble of the 270th District Court in Harris County Texas.  He interned for the Compliance Service Department of the Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas, and served as a research assistant to Richard S. Saver, Assistant Professor of Law at the Law Center. 

Phuong and his wife Linda enjoy playing their violins and violas together and taking road trips to national and state parks.
