At Brown and Fortunato, P.C. Lisa works with the other attorneys in The Health Care Group in handling the firm's health care regulatory work. These attorneys represent an extensive client base of medical supply companies and health care providers throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. Lisa is routinely involved in analyzing arrangements under the various federal and state fraud and abuse laws, and represents pharmacies on a wide variety of issues including compounding parameters. She assists the firm's health care clients with payor audits, due diligence reviews, and health care regulatory compliance issues in general. Lisa is a member of the Health Law Section of the State Bar of Texas.

Lisa's expertise is confirmed by her popularity with clients and also by frequent invitations to write for trade journals or give seminar presentations on Health Law issues.

Though she was born in Santa Monica, California, Lisa has spent almost all of her life in Texas. She received her undergraduate education at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. She graduated in 1981, magna cum laude, with a B.S. in Computer Science.

After college, Lisa worked as a Systems Analyst for Pennzoil Company in Houston. After working five years for Pennzoil, Lisa decided to change careers. She enrolled in the University of Texas School of Law at Austin, Texas, and received her J.D. in December, 1989.

Having done the "big city" experience, Lisa chose to join Hinkle, Cox, Eaton, Coffield & Hensley, L.L.P. in Amarillo, and soon began specializing in Health Law. Lisa represented a number of rural hospitals in the Texas Panhandle on various issues, including physician recruitment, medical staff bylaws, managed care contracts, and open meetings/open records requirements. It was at this time that Lisa began her representation of pharmacies and durable medical equipment companies.

Lisa also possesses a strong sense of civic duty. She has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Second Chance Foundation, a non-profit corporation devoted to providing assistance to physically-disabled individuals.
