Joshua M. Craven is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Amarillo Area Bar Association and Amarillo Area Young Lawyers Association. His practice with Brown & Fortunato focuses on commercial litigation, employment law, oil & gas, and insurance defense. Additionally, Joshua is certified in alternative dispute resolution and is qualified pursuant to the Texas Civil Practice and Remedies Code to serve as an impartial third party mediator or arbitrator; he has mediated insurance claim disputes and minor criminal matters.
Joshua was born in Greenville, Texas, and grew up in east Texas. He was selected by the American Legion to represent his high school and community at American Legion Boys State in Austin, Texas, prior to his graduation from Wolfe City High School in 1993.
After high school, Joshua attended college at East Texas State University (presently Texas A&M University– Commerce). He served as an officer in Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity’s pre-law chapter and earned his Bachelor of Science degree cum laude in Political Science while pursuing minors in Sociology and Economics.
In 2003, Joshua was admitted to Texas Tech University School of Law where he was awarded a full Regent’s Scholarship. At Tech Law Joshua was named to the Dean’s List on multiple occasions and served as Torts tutor. He was recognized with the Jurisprudence Award for superior achievement in Trial Advocacy and was selected to join the Board of Barristers. His professionalism and integrity in both the classroom and the courtroom earned him the respect of his peers and an appointment as Director of the Grievance Committee for the Board of Barristers.
Joshua married Michele in 1997, and they have one son. Joshua enjoys spending time with his family, which often includes hunting, fishing, camping, and target shooting, as well as Cub Scouts activities. A life-long Dallas Cowboys fan, Joshua enjoys playing and watching sports with his son, Will, and taking Will to the Texas Rangers’ Opening Day game each spring.
