Jill Berry joined the Health Care Group of Brown & Fortunato in 2007. Her primary practice involves the representation of hospitals, as well as other healthcare industry providers, on a variety of state and federal statutory and regulatory health care issues.
Jill’s background includes extensive experience with healthcare operational management issues, Medicare and Medicaid regulations, and Joint Commission Standards. Prior to joining Brown & Fortunato, she performed compliance risk assessments and conducted compliance audits in a large public hospital system. She has assisted entities with Joint Commission issues and served as a host to the Joint Commission during specialty certification surveys. Jill has experience with the development of policies and procedures for a variety of operational and regulatory issues. She is knowledgeable about corporate compliance issues and has assisted hospitals with the preparation of Self Disclosures for submission to the OIG.
Jill attended Texas Tech University School of Law where she clerked for a health law firm, served as a writer and the Administrative Director for the Texas Tech Legal Research Board, and served as a research assistant and law student tutor. Jill graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas Tech University School of Law in 2004 and was a member of Order of the Coif. Jill also earned a Law and Science Certificate with an emphasis in Health Law from Texas Tech University School of Law.
Jill is also a registered nurse. She graduated first in her Associate Degree Nursing class at Northwestern State University of Louisiana in 1993. After working as a registered nurse for several years, she returned to Northwestern State University of Louisiana and pursued a bachelor’s degree while continuing to work as a registered nurse. Jill graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2000. She has several years of clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting, a long-term acute care and rehabilitation hospital setting, and a multi-physician specialty practice setting.
Jill has one son, Josh. She is married to Charles and they enjoy reading, watching movies, and traveling.
